New Orleans musicNew Orleans can lay claim to having originated three important musical styles: Jazz, Zydeco, and a local variant of rap music known as 'Bounce'. Brass bands, reminiscent of the early marching bands that gave birth to Jazz can also still be heard all over the city. New Orleans is also home to a thriving alternative music scene. Music has always been a central part of New Orleans culture and it remains so today. Live music can be heard nightly at numerous venues throughout the city.
