Local New Orleans label that has a host of rare and unusual traditional New Orleans jazz on release, including great recordings by Bunk Johnson, George Lewis, Raymond Burke and Wooden Joe Nicholas. American Music was founded by William Russel, the man responsible for setting up the recording session that 're-discovered' Bunk Johnson and George Lewis and kicked off the New Orleans revival of the 1940s. Since 1990 the label has been run by jazz enthusiast George Buck who combined the company his own GHB/Jazzology label.
