Local New Orleans label that has a host
of rare and unusual traditional New Orleans jazz on release,
including great recordings by Bunk Johnson, George Lewis,
Raymond Burke and Wooden Joe Nicholas. American Music was
founded by William Russel, the man responsible for setting
up the recording session that 're-discovered' Bunk Johnson
and George Lewis and kicked off the New Orleans revival of
the 1940s. Since 1990 the label has been run by jazz enthusiast
George Buck who combined the company his own GHB/Jazzology
label. Visit the Jazz Heritage Centre near the French Market
to browse some of the American Music catalogue. In the UK,

issued as part of their 'chronology' series. Provides complete release histories
for numerous musicians and bands grouped by date of original issue. Good quality
